Celebrating International Women's Day with BTX Global Logistics

International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th to honor the vital roles women have played throughout history and continue to play in society and the workplace today. In honor of this day, BTX Global Logistics would like to thank all of the women in the supply chain management and logistics industry for their invaluable contributions.

Women make up 21% of the executive team and 32% of senior branch management at BTX Global Logistics, a worldwide shipping and logistics organization.

"Women play an integral part in our daily lives. They are smart, dedicated, productive and add valuable insight to every situation. We were proud to add two women-led regional branches to our U.S. market coverage in 2022," said Ross Bacarella, CEO & President of BTX Global Logistics. "Being great as an organization means being agile, responsive, inclusive and continuing to strive to diversify our team at every level."

BTX-San Diego in California (BTX-SAN) and BTX-Norfolk in Virginia (BTX-NOR) are BTX's newest women-led regional branches, but certainly not the first.

Imap Global Logistics, BTX’s diversity arm located in Dallas, TX, began working with BTX Global Logistics in 2017. Tamara Bennett, CEO of Imap, said, “We wanted to collaborate with a company whose solutions rested in a personalized experience backed by technology. BTX provides these resources, and more, allowing us to maximize industry opportunities in a forward-thinking environment where everyone can thrive."

BTX-San Diego Senior Manager Debra "Debbie" Smythe, added: "Thriving in this industry, like in any industry, comes from hard work, dedication, and perseverance. We are seeing more women entering logistics and this is great because we add unique and valuable skillsets. Unfortunately, women are still underrepresented at an executive level where the foundation of pivotal business decisions are made, but we're thankful for joining an organization like BTX where our feedback is appreciated."

Although the supply-chain and logistics industry continues to be male-dominated, especially in senior leadership, the 2022 Gartner/AWESOME (Achieving Women’s Excellence in Supply Chain Operations, Management and Education) report revealed positive results were made in recent years despite the impact the Covid-19 pandemic had on women. "While we did see some slight dips in representation, we saw a record number of women at the first-line manager/supervisor, senior manager and director levels. Such progress in the middle of the pipeline will surely deliver results within senior leadership in the coming years," said the report.

BTX is looking forward to the addition of more women to the organization in coming years. To learn more about Career Opportunities with BTX Global Logistics, visit www.btxglobal.com/join-the-team/.
